Every plan includes monthly SMS credits per practitioner for appointment reminders, booking confirmations, payment requests and patient messages. Monthly credits are used first. Top-up credits are consumed after monthly credits run out and expire 30 days after purchase.

How credits work
  • Each SMS segment uses one credit. A segment is up to 159 characters, so longer messages use more than one credit.
  • Monthly included credits are used first.
  • Paid top-up credits are used after monthly credits run out.
  • If credits run out, messages show as unsent and can be retried once credits are restored.
  • Top-ups purchased in-app using the payment provider.

The AI Receptionist is an add-on that sits on top of your core MediDesk subscription. You need an active MediDesk Lite, MediDesk Pro or MediDesk Max plan first. Pricing is based on voice minutes per month, plus a monthly access fee. Pricing (To Be Announced).

Requires a MediDesk plan. The AI Receptionist cannot be purchased standalone. It is activated on an existing subscription and billed alongside your core plan. Once you are subscribed, our team handles configuration and testing with you from inside the app before going live.

Is there a free trial?
No. MediDesk is a direct subscription, choose a plan and start. There is no free trial period. If you have questions about whether MediDesk fits your practice before subscribing, you can get in touch.
How do I get started?
Choose a plan on this page and subscribe directly from the app. There is no free trial and no sales call required for core MediDesk plans. If you would like to add the AI Receptionist later, you can switch it on from inside the app once you are subscribed, our team handles call-flow configuration and testing with you before it goes live.
How does the subscription work?
MediDesk is billed monthly in South African Rand via PayFast recurring subscription. Plan changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. Cancellation can be done at any time from within the app and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. After that, 72 hours of read-only access is provided before full deactivation. Current-period refunds are not issued per the Terms of Service.
Why is MediDesk priced by practitioner?
Because practitioners drive patient volume, appointment volume, billing activity, SMS usage and overall practice workload. Reception and admin users are included at no extra cost so every staff member can have a proper named account.
Do receptionists cost extra?
No. Receptionists, billing staff, admin staff and practice managers are included at no extra cost. Each plan includes 5 named staff accounts per practitioner, so every staff member can use their own login and actions remain accountable in audit trails.
How does SMS pricing work?
Each plan includes monthly SMS credits per practitioner, 150 (MediDesk Lite), 300 (MediDesk Pro), or 600 (MediDesk Max). Credits cover booking reminders, confirmations, payment requests and patient messages. If you need more, top-up bundles can be purchased in-app. Top-up credits expire 30 days after purchase.
Is there a setup fee?
There is no standard setup fee for core plans. AI Receptionist activation involves a configuration process handled by MediDesk | contact us to discuss what that looks like for your practice.
Can we change plans later?
Yes. Only the practice owner can change plans. A plan change is scheduled for the next billing cycle, existing features stay active until the current period ends, then the new plan takes effect.
What types of practices can use MediDesk?
MediDesk is built for South African private healthcare practices, medical, dental, physiotherapy, psychology, allied health and specialist practices. MediDesk Max is better suited to practices that need authorisation tracking, a manual arrivals queue, billing intelligence and full reporting.
Is setup complicated?
No. When you subscribe, MediDesk walks you through a guided setup: practice details, team members, appointment types, working hours and SMS preferences. The core setup takes minutes. How quickly your team is fully operational depends on your practice size and configuration. If you add the AI Receptionist later, our team handles that configuration with you separately.
Is MediDesk POPIA-conscious?
MediDesk includes POPIA-conscious workflows: named staff accounts, role-based permissions, patient access logs, patient data export and patient erasure workflows. Practices remain responsible for their own legal and compliance obligations. See our page for more detail.
