How a call flows
End to end
The whole flow happens in one call. The booking appears in the MediDesk calendar immediately. If the patient needs a human at any point, they press a digit and get transferred to reception.
Every call the AI handles is one fewer interruption for your receptionist. During busy mornings, that adds up quickly.
What the AI Receptionist handles
When a patient calls, they can choose to speak with the AI Receptionist or press a digit to reach a human. The AI handles routine requests, then routes to your team when needed.

Patient calls to change their appointment. AI identifies the existing booking, finds an available alternative, and confirms the change.
Patient cancels an existing appointment by voice. The AI logs the cancellation and can send a confirmation SMS to close the loop.
When enabled, the AI can answer standard questions about practice hours, location, parking, documents required, and other configurable topics.
Patient can press a configured digit at any time to reach your human receptionist directly. The AI never traps a patient in a loop.
Outside your configured practice hours, calls are routed according to your rules, to voicemail, human number, or an after-hours message.

Add-on pricing
The AI Receptionist is an add-on, it is activated on top of an existing MediDesk Lite, MediDesk Pro or MediDesk Max subscription. Core MediDesk plans start from R799 pm. AI Receptionist pricing is based on voice minutes used per month, plus a monthly access fee.

How activation works
The AI Receptionist is not a self-service toggle. Activation involves configuring your phone routing, booking rules, practice hours, handoff number and voice agent. MediDesk handles this with you before the system goes live.
